DAY 1: KAMPALA – KIBALE NATIONAL PARK
After your breakfast at your Hotel in Kampala, our guide will pick you up and drive you westwards. This drive through one of the beautiful countryside of Uganda will expose you to plenty of fresh vegetable and fruit markets, coffee plantation, and indigenous cattle grazing. Meet and greet Fort Portal which lies in the shadow of the enchanted “Mountains of the Moon”. On arrival you will have lunch at Ndali lodge or Luxury Mantana Tented camps/ Rwenzori View guest house/ Kanyankyu depending on where you will be staying. Then take a visit to the crater regions of the park. Return to the lodge and wait for dinner and overnight at the park.
DAY 2: CHIMPANZE TRACKING TOUR
Wake up very early in the morning, take breakfast and report to Kanyanchu Tourist Centre where chimpanzee tracking in the park begins from. Set out in the forest in search for man’s closest animal brothers the endangered chimpanzees.Here the chances of viewing the chimps are over 90% but it is not a guarantee and this might take you around 3 – 5 hours. Other primates in this forest that you will encounter are the threatened Red colobus monkey, the rare L’Hoest’s monkeys, the red tailed monkeys, Blue monkey, Grey Cheeked mangabeys, vervet and many others not leaving out butterflies. After, you will return to the lodge for lunch and in the afternoon, a visit to Bigodi swamp eco-tourism site is amazing, as we shall encounter rare and beautiful flora and fauna. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
DAY 3: WILDLIFE TOUR – QUEEN ELIZABETH PARK
Wake up very early in the morning for breakfast and then later transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Drive along the Ruwenzori ranges and Savanna grasslands you will arrive at Queen Elizabeth National park in the mid morning. A game drive en route will expose you to a wide range of animals including; antelopes, elephants, buffaloes, Hyenas, bushbucks, the comical warthogs, the elusive leopards and if you are lucky the lions plus a wide range of bird species. Have lunch at the lodge and then take a visit to the crater lakes region for sightseeing. Then go to Katwe salts mines one of the Crater Lake in the park so see how salt is traditionally mined in the park. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge / Institute of Ecology.
DAY 4: QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK
Very early in the morning after a cup of coffee, you will be picked up from the lodge to go for an early morning game drive in the Mweya peninsular in search for animals. You will encounter Kobs, Hyenas, Giant forest hog, Bush bucks, Oribi, Waterbucks, Elephant, if you are lucky Lions, Buffalos, the African Rock Python, warthogs and many other animals that the park inhabits. After, you will be taken back to the lodge for mid morning breakfast then you will relax as you wait for lunch. In the afternoon after lunch, you will go for the launch cruise along the Kazinga channel. Along this canal is schools of hippos, herds of Buffalos, Crocodiles close to the waterside and if you are lucky the rare Leopard prowling. Whilst on the launch cruise you will also see a wide range of bird species both migrants and residents like pelicans, the African Jacana, fish eagles, the grey heron, if you are lucky the legendary Shoebill, and many others. Then after get back to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
DAY 5: ISHASHA SECTOR / MARAMAGAMBO – BWINDI NATIONAL PARK
This morning, you will proceed to Bwindi via Maramagambo and Ishasha sector. As you drive, animals such as the waterbucks, elephant, antelopes, buffalo, kobs, can be seen along the road. Have lunch and relax around. You can move around to visit the communities around Bwindi as you wait for dinner and overnight at the luxurious Gorilla Resort Camp set deep in the rain forest/ Buhoma community banda.
DAY 6: GORILLA TRACKING TOUR IN BWINDI FOREST
After breakfast, you will go for gorilla tracking at Buhoma centre. Tracking in Bwindi needs fitness and the time taken to track the gorillas is unpredictable. The rangers will brief you then you trek through steep densely forested hills in search for these gentle giants camouflaged in the vegetation. A stirring moment! Return to The lodge for dinner and overnight at Gorilla Resort Camp set deep in the rain forest / Buhoma community bandas.
DAY 7: LAKE MBURO WILDLIFE SAFARI
After an early breakfast, you will drive to Lake Mburo National Park and enter the Park through the Nshara Gate. The afternoon game drive will take you along the lakeshore track, and with its own system of game trails and cleared walkways, the “Kigambara Loop” offers interesting guided lakeside walks. Here you can find herds of zebra, cape buffalo and eland, and oribi and topi are easy to approach. Along with the game drive, many visitors also enjoy a boat trip on Lake Mburo and self-guided nature trails. Bird watchers will enjoy more than 250 species of birds found in Lake Mburo including Papyrus Gonoleks, Brown-faced Lapwings, Carruther’s Cisticolas, the extraordinary White winged Warbler and Bare-Faced Go-away bird. You will return for dinner and first class service at the Mantana tented camps / Rwonyo camp or Agip Motel.
DAY 8: MPIGI ROYAL DRUMS – KAMPALA
Take breakfast and drive to Kampala. Along the road you will take a stopover at the Mpigi Royal Drum Makers. Here you will be able to watch the ceremonial drums being crafted using different methods in reference to the different generations. There will also be time to stop at the equator for photographs and you will arrive in Kampala before lunch.
